Is PocketVault really free?

Yes. The free tier includes unlimited transactions, basic AI categorization, spending summaries, data export, and full encryption. Premium features (advanced reports, multi-currency, AI insights) are available for $1/month ($12/year).

Where is my data stored?

On your device only. PocketVault uses an encrypted SQLite database (SQLCipher, AES-256) stored locally. No data is sent to any server.

What happens if I lose my phone?

PocketVault includes encrypted backup and restore. Go to Settings > Backup to create an AES-encrypted backup protected by a password you choose. Restore it on any device by importing the backup file and entering your password.

Does the AI need internet?

No. All AI features run on-device using llama.cpp and ONNX models. You need internet only to download the AI models initially (about 80MB). After that, everything works offline.

Can I sync between devices?

Yes, using the P2P sync feature (Premium plan). Devices must be on the same local WiFi network. Sync is direct between devices with no cloud server involved.

Which platforms are supported?

Android, iOS, Web, Windows, macOS, and Linux. All built from a single Flutter codebase.

How do I import from Mint/YNAB/other apps?

Export your data as CSV from your current app, then use PocketVault’s CSV import feature (Settings > Import > CSV). The flexible column mapper works with any CSV format.

How do subscriptions work?

Premium is available as a $1/month or $12/year subscription, managed through Google Play or the Apple App Store. You can cancel anytime — your data stays on your device and the free features continue working. Desktop and web users can link their mobile subscription.
